"If everyone painted pictures" imagine the variety of individual styles we would get to witness!
O.k. here goes..... was born September 18, 1957, in Brooklyn New York. At age two we moved to Escondido, California. As a young child I can remember being spellbound by the visual world. Light/shadow, color/form and Batman/Robin. Whatever I saw would provide me a thrill, both sensual and emotional. Moved again when I was about 11, to the pacific coastal town of Solana Beach, California (paradise). Played, and loved music, surfed and developed a true respect and fascination for life! Always guilty as charged of being a dreamer — I was observing my world obsessed.
In 1972 I managed to avoid the required curriculum, while loading up on all the art classes available, at San Dieguito High School, Encinitas, California. I received an eye opening introduction to the joy of drawing from Ms.Hannifen and Ms.Delise who were able to spark my desire to learn more about art.
After high school, it was on to Palomar College, San Marcos, Ca. The art program there was incredible. The faculty was both informed and passionate about art. Doug Durrant, Harry Bliss, Everret Peck, Jim Saw, and Frank Jones, are just a few of the influential instructors/artists that were there, dedicated to the teachings of fine art.
In 1981, I began an intense four-year art education at California State University at Long Beach. Probably the finest group of talented artists at any art school in the world, at the time, were the teachers at C.S.U.L.B. Dick Oden, Fred Mendez, David Hadlock, John Lincoln, George Zebot, Neil Meyers and Eva Roberts; all acclaimed professionals in their art careers. I was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1985.
In 1986 I apprenticed, with Jim Waggeman, Airstream Studio, Encinitas, Ca. After two years I began a freelance career as an artist.
Ambition, and curiosity, led me to the painting of murals. It was another step forward in my education as I joined a freelance group of artists in Las Vegas, Nevada. We painted at Caesar's Palace, Harrah's and many other casinos. This experience was invaluable.
Currently, I'm marketing original paintings on canvas. Some "on location" outdoor landscapes, as well as “in studio” imaginative efforts. These are available as stunning reproductions, in limited edition prints of 100.
Thank you for your time, now I have to get back to painting!
Take care,
Kevin
